All About Chess is excited to be teaching this year at Somerset Elementary School! Coach David Hendricks has chosen to step down after many successful years of teaching at Somerset Elementary. For the 2017-2018 school year, returning coach Tim Campbell will be teaming up with Brad Stensland to continue this strong chess program! At All About Chess we provide extra assistance wherever we can to help our students have a positive experience. A typical class has a weekly lesson on a particular topic, then practice games against their peers working on what they have been learning and each class will run a yearly tournament. Included in your registration is a one year subscription to ChessMagnetSchool, a wonderful teaching tool that will allow students to practice ideas learned in class during the rest of the week! Kindergartners: To be ready for chess, your kindergartner should be able to do simple math and some reading and writing. I am offering a 4-week trial for $54 (for Kindergartners only). Email me if you would like to do the trial option.
To register, you must be available to volunteer once during the year for each enrolled student. No chess knowledge needed – you will be monitoring kids, helping to run the club, helping with checkout, and, perhaps most importantly, assisting the coach in ensuring classrooms are cleaned and ready for the teachers to use the next day. If due to unforeseen reasons you absolutely cannot make it, it is your responsibility to find a proper replacement.
